My name is Jelena Savković. I’m a teacher, coordinator, examiner and workshops facilitator. I understand that learning and development depends on multiple factors, internal and external, individual and cultural. I also understand different types of challenges and struggles that enthusiastic educational communities face in different cultures and environments. These understandings are a strong foundation for my passion to create AGORA, the independent educational consultancy, devoted to understanding schools that aim for progressive teaching, learning and organizational strategies, as well as schools in transition from traditional to progressive learning environments.
With the desire to bring education closer to the meaningful schooling years, as well as to make it purposeful to individual and global progress, I'm asking the question: What is formal education for?
Different eras have given us different answers. Most of us have been educated for the purposes of the previous systems, market demands and socio-political values that have served the world before us. These environments, values and needs have dramatically changed by the time we’ve come to drive the workforce.
Educational communities need to come together in answering the question about the purpose and optimization of educational systems and organizations, and build meaningful educational practices around it.
I’m inviting schools, educational organizations and enthusiasts, to connect and partner with me in creating meaningful, effective, trans-disciplinary and compassionate environments for education, in order to pave the way towards peaceful and collaborative global society.
The world of today calls for engagement and motivation. Technological changes are rapid. We need discipline and grit in our journey of life-long learning. The world is getting ever more complex and we need creativity, critical thinking and innovation in order to be effectively involved. Workspaces of the future seek to optimize well-being in order to ensure success. Ultimately, progress in humanity needs to keep pace with the material progress. It is time to switch from global and local conflicts to collaborative play of knowledge and curiosity.
